Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal
Nestled within the rolling hills and snow-peaked tops of the might Himalayan mountains, Kathmandu is Nepal’s largest metropolitan region and the stepping stone to the country’s outdoor playground waiting to be explored. Thamel, infamously known as being the traveller’s ghetto in the city, is somewhat of a maze with it’s narrow streets filled with cookie cutter shops and stalls all offering up the latest and greatest in knock-off outdoor clothing and gear.
Once the city lights go dim and the power has gone from your guesthouse (daily occurrence that you’ll quickly adapt to), live music and open air restaurants reveal themselves, offering up just about anything your homesick taste-buds could ask for. And as your appreciation for milk tea grows, you’re ability to haggle with rickshaw driver’s reaches an expert level and your pockets are empty from falling victim to buying everything in sight…it’s time to head out of the city to discover and explore what else this magical country has to offer.
