At the Russian Court in Hermitage Amsterdam
At the Russian Court is the inaugural exhibition hosted by . The exhibition takes visitors to 19th century St Petersburg. Over 1800 objects tell the life story of the Romanov Tsars. All objects are on loan from the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.
The exhibition emphasises two aspects: court protocol and court balls. Hundreds of ceremonial robes give a glimpse of pomp and circumstance at the Russian court, but also shows the authoritarian state of court life.

The star exhibit is the Romanov throne and matching hassock, upholstered in pink and adorned with a crown and the Romanov coat of arms.
The exhibits in the ball room show the more frivolous side of court life; extravagant ball dresses, together with hundreds of matching accessories and ceremonial tunics for men. Precious dinner sets, silver cutlery, the last Tsarina’s piano, paintings by Winterhalter and Repin show the glamour and glitter of Russian court life.
