Los Angeles Labor Day Events
As the official end of summer draws near, Labor Day weekend (September 5-7) offers a plethora (hate that word, but currently at a loss for another!) of interesting events, festivals, and concerts. Some require admission, but many others are free.
Don’t forget the obvious: host a backyard barbecue (or crash someone else’s); grab a picnic basket, beach chairs, and umbrella and head for the beach; laze around with good books, fun DVDs, fine wine, and friends or a significant other.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, beer, and the usual accoutrements are typical Labor Day fare. But, who ever said that Los Angeles was typical??? Not me, that’s for sure! So whip up some tofu curry, roasted peas, and veggie burgers. And, don’t forget to put out heaping bowls of fruits and nuts and flakes, for which the city is so famous. Oh, face it, the rest of the world is so jealous!
By the way, Labor Day is really supposed to honor workers (or laborers). So, if you are lucky enough to have a job, don’t forget to pay tribute to yourself.
