1 Great Cafe for Lunch! Budget Barcelona
The display cooler at El Mos is stuffed with elegant cakes drizzled with chocolate, and sweet tarts piled with fresh fruit and glazed with sugar. There are cakes to feed 12 and there are mini-cakes to serve 1, which is usually what I opt for with a cafe con leche in the afternoon if I am in a decadent mood.
Besides tempting cakes, El Mos also has croissants, bread and pastries to meet all your breakfast needs plus lots of inexpensive lunch options from about 1pm on. A tuna sandwich at El Mos will set you back about €4 max and a deli salad is about the same. They also offer a couple hot plates every day, with simple dishes like pasta and chicken.
Eating out in Barcelona can really add up if you always go to restaurants, so eating lunch at a cafe is a good way to save. At El Mos lunch will run you about €6 (or less!) where you’ll spend at least €10 at most places for a daily special at a restaurant.
El Mos is on Calle Comtaloff Portal del Angel, a few blocks from Plaza Catalunya.
