Cirque du Soleil Kooza is One Brilliant and Fun Show!
It’s been a few days since I posted and that’s because I have been busy with Denver events! Last night, my husband and I attended the premiere of Cirque du Soleil Kooza at the Pepsi Center Grounds in Denver, Colorado. I have never been to a Cirque du Soleil show (I have no idea why!), so this was something brand new for me.
When we drove up to the Pepsi Center Grounds, we were greeted with the blue and yellow tents. Here’s me in front of one portion.
As we walked down the purple carpet, we had our picture taken and the guy was telling me to work it! I “worked it” as best as I knew how and luckily have no purple carpet blunders to share with you. There were men and women on stilts handing out flowers and one man on stilts doing flips. Needless to say, the visitors of the show are greeted with style.
Since we were there for the premiere, we received complimentary popcorn and soda in these very cool reusable cups, which I thought was an excellent touch. There were also people in masks handing out appetizers before the show and cupcakes during intermission.
Seating
When it comes to seating for this show, there is no such thing as bad seats or nosebleed seats. Well, I take that back. Those of us in the front few rows seemed to get picked on the most by the clowns, which I thought was hilarious!! Although, there really is no escaping the fact that you could be chosen to get up on that stage or have your chair lifted in the air or disappear during a magic trick. Just be prepared for the unknown. (Cue the scary music now.)
My husband and I had great seats, in the second row, off to the side. At one point the lady on the trapeez was swinging right over our heads. That was amazing!
The Show
I honestly do not know how to describe the show with words. I was entertained every second. I was amazed at the talent of the performers every second. I laughed or was in awe every second. I didn’t want it to be over!
Since I can’t pinpoint one act that was my favorite, let me tell you about a few of them and show you some video clips.
The Contortionist
One of the first acts was the Contortionist. These three girls do things with their bodies that seems absolutely impossible. They do it with grace and ease and it was just amazing. Here’s a clip of their act.

The Wheel of Death
There was an act called The Wheel of Death. I would say that’s an appropriate name. I was freaking out as these guys were flying around this wheel at what seemed like warp speed and then jumping up and somehow landing right back on the wheel. One of these days, I WILL get their autograph because, well, they are cool like that. Check them out.

The Juggling Man
I showed my boys this clip of the juggling man and I am kind of wishing I wouldn’t have. Why? Because my 5 year old has been trying to juggle things all day and I’ve yelled “Heads Up!” at least a handful of times. Having a ball flying at your head is never fun.
The juggling man can juggle balls, discs and pins and makes it look like the easiest task on earth. You just have to watch.

I was also amazed by the man who could balance himself on 7 chairs and do mind boggling things with his body. His strength and skill are like none I have ever seen. The acrobats, the dancers, the music and the entertaining clowns made this into one great show.
What I think I loved most about this show, was the fact that you could tell these people love what they do for a living. I can’t even imagine how many hours a day they practice or what it’s like to be on the road for months and months on end.
If you get the chance to see Cirque du Soleil Kooza while they are in Denver, do it! I don’t think you will be disappointed. The show will be in town until Septmember 27th and you can purchase your tickets at the Kooza website.
I want to thank the entire Kooza team for making this one very fun night! You guys and gals are amazing.
