iPhone App Dishes Dirt on Dodgy Eateries

iPhone users can now steer clear of Sydney’s dodgy kebab shops and Chinese takeaways, thanks to a new iPhone application.

FoodWatch NSW uses the iPhone’s GPS to show you which nearby restaurants have breached food safety standards. Information is sourced from the NSW Food Authority list, so it’s entirely objective.

“While I think a lot of restaurants aren’t happy about it [the list], you can see the information and make your own decision,” explained Keith Ahern, chief executive officer of development company mogeneration.

“We’re not making any editorial decisions on the data, we’re really just publicising what is freely available. It’s not going to victimise any businesses disproportionately.”

The application is free from the Apple iPhone app. store.
