The Red Rattler Slithers Into Sydney

Sydney’s newest creative venue is The Red Rattler. This exciting space will showcase the city’s underground musicians, designers, filmmakers, and multimedia artists.
It’s the brainchild of five women frustrated with the high rents for performance spaces and police intervention for unsanctioned arts displays. With the Red Rattler, they’ve kept the bohemian spirit intact for the entire family. That’s right, supervised children are permitted at all shows, so free spirited adults don’t have to miss out on all the fun.
That bohemian spirit extends to the prices. Guests are asked to contribute a 50c donation to the performance. This money then goes to The Red Rattler’s eco-plan, which helps the space run on largely renewable energy and water sources.
Upcoming performances include The Lady Sings it Better, a night of female singers performing the tunes we traditionally associate with male artists, and Cut + Paste, a sustainable craft festival.
