Two Tango Festivals Rock Buenos Aires

For 18 days Buenos Aires will be the Tango Capital of the world, featuring two world class events. These are the 2009 Buenos Aires Tango Festival, and the 7th Tango Dance World Championship.
City landmarks such as beautiful building of the former department store Harrods, the legendary Luna Park, the theaters Avenida, San Martín and 25 de Mayo, the Centro Cultural Recoleta, Ciudad Cultural Konex, La Trastienda, Tango Porteño and the Planetario, will be the main venues for a program of concerts, special shows, dance clinics, book presentations, live “milongas”, cinema, lessons and seminars.
All the activities in the festival are free of charge, but some of the shows require advanced ticket reservation, which must be picked up at Casa de la Cultura on Avenida de Mayo 575, in the following days and hours:
Entry tickets for the Festival must be picked up from August, Wednesday 12 to Friday 14, from 11 am to 7 pm. These are tickets for the shows at Centro Cultural Konex, Teatro Avenida, Teatro San Martín and Planetario Galileo Galilei.
Entry tickets for the Great Dance Final at Luna Park must be picked up on August, Monday 17 and Tuesday 18, from 11 am to 7 pm.
The rest of the activities don’t require advance tickets, but are limited to the venue’s capacity.
The 11th edition of Buenos Aires Festival de Tango will take place from August 14th to August 31st, 2009, with free tango shows, lessons and seminars, conferences, collector’s meetings, exhibitions, and film screenings.
