Airport Pulkovo: better too early than too late

The Pulkovo highway, a road to get to the St. Petersburg only airport Pulkovo, is under repair as of today and till the end of the year. Not entirely, just one section, and this section is behind the airport if you go from the city. But as we know from experience, a congestion caused by repair at one section causes congestion at other sections too. So, the part of the highway leading to the airport can be affected too.

What you should keep in mind is that it’s better have additional time to get to Pulkovo, since you may be blocked in a traffic jam even without repair, I tried it several times. If you go by public transport, the best way is to get by underground to the Moskovskaya metro station, then take a bus 39 if you want to go to Pulkovo-1 (domestic and charter flights) or number 3 (a little taxi bus, “marshrutka”) for getting to Pulkovo-2 (international flights and charters).

It’s about 20 minutes to get to Moskovskaya and usually it takes 20 minutes to get reach the airport. My advice for you is to be at Moskovskaya as minimum one hour before the start of a check-in for your flight.
