Vacation Like The Venice Elite, Brenta Canal Tours

Have you ever felt that somewhere in a different life you were royalty? Sometimes I get this feeling because it’s just unbelievable that I’m working this much and not completely benefiting. On a hot day, the best place to be is on the water. So why not board one of the tour boats operated by I Battelli del Brenta and take a leisurely cruise up the Brenta Canal from Venice to Padova and visit some of the Venetian Villas along the way…the summer residences of the 15th and 16th elite of Venice.

Back in the day, the boats that carried the noblemen were called burchielli. But you can bring as many friends as you want because the boats that are operated carry anywhere from 70 to 135 passengers on burci, which are restored old wooden barges.

The cruise lasts all afternoon, so make the appropriate time for the whole bit. You will travel from Padova to Venice or vice versa so plan on the trip back by train or car also, the cruise itself is not round trip unless you specify that in your order.

All of the tours are guided and usually include stops at Venice, Fusina, Malcontenta, Oriago, Mira, Dolo, Stra, and finally Padova. Or in reverse if you start in Padova.

A daily cruise from 9:00am to 6:00pm includes the sailing time, stops to visit three Venetian Villas, a visit to the Ancient Mills of the 16th century in Dolo, and the guide. Lunch is optional. Special short cruises and half day public and private group programs are available.

They are also a transfer for arrivals and departures. Rates for transfers by boat or coach, excursions and visits to the sights and the parks, hotel accommodation and more on request.
