I hope I will never forget the “magic” feeling of parking our little Airstream Caravel along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River to spend the night “RVing” at Tom Sawyer’s RV park in West Memphis, AR. A steady cool drizzle kept us in our little trailer the entire night but with open windows we could hear tugboats slowly lug by. I was ecstatic to have such a front row seat to the adventure. By the time we traveled and stayed at such wonderful locales as Gulf Shores, AL State Park and “Alligator Point” RV resort near St. Joe, Fl we were already “experienced” RVers. We continued on to travel most of the South Eastern U.S. hauling our little trailer and discovered we were quite adept at this new way of living. We had no idea it would give us the courage to become entrepreneurs in the hospitality business with a weekly vacation rental home (BeachnRiver). So in a curious, roundabout way, “RVing” allowed us not only to discover a unique way to experience travel, it became the impetus to act upon a hidden desire we suppressed while working for others. How completely and ironically fitting our first step taken toward this new business venture began at an RV park called “Tom Sawyer’s.”
