“DIANA- The People’s Princess” Exhibit at Downtown Disney
A unique walk through experience awaits Walt Disney World Resort guests at Downtown Disney West Side as The People’s Princess Charitable Foundation presents a major new exhibit of British royal artifacts in “DIANA – The People’s Princess”.
Showcasing the story of Princess Diana, one of recent history’s most iconic figures and leading philanthropist, the exhibit includes a sampling of royal dresses Diana auctioned off for charity, and roughly 900 authentic artifacts relating to her life. Among those items on display are a Royal Doulton figurine of Diana in an exact replica of her famous wedding gown, handwritten notes, photographs and items from her childhood.
As part of one of the largest collections of dresses and artifacts assembled for an American audience, the exhibit provides guests an understanding of:
- Diana’s own childhood and ancestry, the lineage that played a part in her selection as bride of HRH Charles, the future King of England and the magical royal wedding observed by millions
- Her roles as Princess of Wales and “Mum” to Princes William and Harry
- Her residency at Kensington Palace until her death and its significance
- The impact she had on the fashion industry and using that influence to benefit charities by auctioning off 79 royal dresses through Christie’s “Sale of The Century”
- The massive media and public interest in Diana, even in her untimely death
Held in an area next to Disney Quest, (map) the exhibit will run from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm through November 30, 2009. Tickets are available for purchase at the exhibit site, $14.50 for age 10 and up, $5.00 for ages 3-9.
I was one of the 750 million who watched the young girl with the huge dress walk down the aisle and meekly stumble as she recited the many names of her royal groom. This exhibit is sure to jog many memories and endear this young princess once again in the hearts of the public.

I saw the Dresses back in 1997/98 shortly after Diana died. I am so excited about going to see them again at Downtown Disney. The Dresses are Beautiful and exceptionally made with a superior attention to detail that I haven’t seen since then. Diana was a Remarkable and Lovely Lady Who really cared about People and was always wanting the best for Everyone. I think it is Wonderful that the Dresses are being displayed all over the World and continue to remind Us of that Lovely Princess and in some small way continue the work in what She left behind.

My daughter was also excited about this exhibit as she recently completed a class project about Diana and her influence on the world.
