Lily Allen to play HSBC Arena in September
Fans of British singer Lily Allen can catch the kooky songstress live in Rio next month. The singer, who’s singles The Fear and It’s not Fair are on constant rotation on Brazilian MTV, will be performing at HSBC Arena on September 18, as part of a short South American tour that also takes in a show in Sao Paulo on September 17.
The British star has a firm following among young cariocas (Rio locals), due in part to the fact that her tune The Fear formed part of the soundtrack to the popular TV Globo soap opera Caras e Bocas.
As such, the show is expected to be a sell-out, despite the high ticket prices that start at R$120 for standard tickets and go up to R$240 for VIP tickets (essentially just giving access to an area closer to the stage than the standard seats). Tickets are not yet on sale, so watch this space for details of where to buy.
The HSBC Arena is located west of Rio de Janeiro, in the suburb of Barra da Tijuca, at Avenida Embaixador Abelardo Bueno 3401, and the show will start at 10pm.
Meanwhile, there is excited chatter among fans of the rock band U2, after Rio mayor Eduardo Paes announced that he would like the group to perform on Copacabana beach as part of this year’s New Year celebrations. Again, watch this space.
