Traditional Regatta of Pellestrina
The Venetians take their sailing seriously, afterall it was a serious navy and strength in the Adriatic and Mediterranean for hundreds of years. But the competition goes far beyond the navy sailors, the locals of also felt that they were the best at the helm and because of this, celebrates many regattas a year.
On Sunday August 2nd, The Traditional Regatta of Pellestrina will be held on the island of Pellestrina. This particular regatta is probably one of the most important of the entire rowing season due to the fact that it used as a “warm up” or “testing ground” for the participants that want to compete in the Historical Regatta in later in September.
The place to watch the regatta is from a boat that you can set adrift in the area, however, if this is out of your price range or you prefer not to get your feet wet, then a suitable place can also be found on land, although the view is less and the temperature is warmer.
There will be 3 different races:
1st – 4:30pm will host the young participants
2nd – 5:15pm will host the women
3rd – 6:00pm will host the men
