Cheapskate Barcelona; The Tips You Need to Save
So you’re doing the shoestring thing? No problem. Here are some cheapskate tips for saving a buck, or a Euro as it were, in Barcelona.
Here are the ’5 S’s’ to saving big:
Shop: for your lunch at the supermarket or open air market. Buy a baguette, some cheese and a coke and eat your lunch in the park or on the beach. Buy at : Santa Caterina Market - http://www.mercatsantacaterina.net/
Sip: Cheap beers? Cheap bars? consider Bar Leo in Barceloneta, popular for its super cheap cervezas. You’ll find it on Calle Sant Carles, all the way at the end.
Savor: If you plan to eat in a restaurant, go for lunch. Why? Because most bars offer a daily special or menu del dia, for lunch from €9 to €15 for a 3-course meal. This is the best deal in town, and it’s not available at dinner time.
See: check out the free sights in town, like simply touring the exterior of La Sagrada Familia, a walk along the waterfront, or a visit to Caixaforum, which offers free entrance.
Save: Instead of paying individual entrance fees to museums, buy the Articket Bcn for €20 which allows entrance to several museums. www.articketbcn.org
