Blue Angels ROAR into Seattle for SeaFair

It’s SeaFair weekend!  And that means there’s going to be plenty of noise around town – on land, sea, and in the air.  It just isn’t SeaFair without the Blue Angels.

US Navy Blue Angels precision flying team One of the highlights of SeaFair over the years, has been the air show, and the appearance of the United States Navy’s Blue Angels.  You can catch them on hydroplane race day, of course, but there also several practices where the crowds will be a little easier to navigate.

This is precision flying at its very, very, best, and while I’ve seen the Blue Angels hundreds of times, I’m awe struck every single time.  You can’t help but ask yourself, “how do they do that?”  Hours and hours of practice, I know, and it shows when they thrill the crowds.  Amazing doesn’t adequately describe it!

If you’ll be attending one of the shows, or plan to be out and about in what looks like a great summer weekend, don’t forget that the Department of Transportation will close all lanes of Interstate 90 during practices and performances.  That includes cyclists and pedestrians, too.  Keep that in mind when making plans into or out of Seattle.

Location: Up in the air!  Mostly over Lake Washington, but you’ll also see them from various parts of the city as well.

Dates & Times:   Times listed are the approximate window that the I-90 Bridge will be closed.  Practices and performances will be within that window, and may vary based on a number of unpredictable factors like weather, air traffic, mechanical issues, etc.

Thursday, July 30th – practice sessions, time approximate, 9:45 am – noon, and 1:15 – 2:30 pm

Friday, July 31st – practice show, approximately 12:45 – 2:40 pm

Saturday, August 1st – full show, approximately 12:45 – 2:40 pm

Sunday, August 2nd – full show, approximately 12:45 – 2:40 pm

Check all all the details of the Air Show, Hydro Races, and other SeaFair activities and plan your weekend.
