Life’s a “Plage” in Paris

It’s baaaack!  That most wonderful time of year when the banks of the Seine do their very best to impersonate sandy Mediterranean shores, more in keeping with Nice or Marseilles than Paris.

A relaxing game of boules

Sea-side café

à la piscine

From July 20 to August 20, Paris Plage creates a Seine-side respite from the grind of daily city life.  Sandy beaches created on two sites, voie Georges Pompidou (map) in the 4th and Bassin de la Villette (métro: Jaurés or Stalingrad) in the 19th complete with brilliant blue deck chairs and matching umbrellas beckon one and all to soak up a little sun.  There’s water sports for you adventure travelers and games of boules for those requiring a little less action.  Ice cream vendors roam about helping to keep you cool and cafés have been set up for light meals.

Dig your toes in the sand as the Eiffel Tower and Paris’ splendor plays backdrop to this summer escapade.
