The OC Super Fair, Super Reality Show

Through August 9th, the Orange County Fairgrounds hosts its annual fair. This year the fun-filled event has been proclaimed The OC “Super Fair.” Some of the elements that indeed make it super include carnival rides and games, top-name entertainment, cultural and community celebrations, competitions and contests, good-bye diet food, and so many daily events that you can return over and over and always see something new and exciting.

Fair Highlights

Food: sushi, Australian battered potatoes, mini and jumbo cupcakes, deep-fried Snickers, frozen bananas, barbecue, blooming onions, fudge, tostadas, shrimp cocktails, veggie burritos, egg rolls, cheescake, etc., etc., etc.

Competitions: quilts, photography, wine, homemade beer, home arts, woodworking, fine arts, farm and garden, collections, giant pumpkins, etc., etc., etc.

Exhibits: equestrian performances, commentaries, dressage, pole bending, and a parade of breeds in costume; “Think Pig,” which highlights all-things porcine such as stories, folklore, history, and the relationship between humans and pigs (??!); “Airbase to Fairbase” that shows the evolution of the fairgrounds.

Concerts: Anita Baker, Duran Duran, the B-52s, The Moody Blues, Kelly Clarkson, Blondie, Smokey Robinson, Melissa Etheridge, etc., etc., etc.

Discounts and Promotions: on various Wednesdays bring canned goods, new toys, school supplies, and receive one free admission and one carnival ride; kids under 12 receive free admission every Thursday; seniors, 60 years and older, are offered $4 admission on Fridays.
