Edinburgh Open Doors Day to Span Entire Weekend

Yay!  This year they will double the Edinburgh Open Doors Day schedule to cover two days – that is an entire weekend for you to explore some of Edinburgh’s secret buildings, hidden chambers, and other unmentionable places.

As you may know, I’m a huge fan of the Open Doors Programme because it’s an opportunity to learn so much about the city.  Check out all the sites I saw back in September for the 2008 program.

Rumour has it this year we’ll also be able to tour places like St Andrews House (formerly a prison but now one of the main offices of the Scottish government), the Redford Infantry Barracks, and Granton Lighthouse down on the Firth of Forth.  (Guess you’ll have an excuse to check out the new waterfront pathway, eh?).  It’s all very exciting – can’t believe it’s coming up so soon.  We’ll be sure to let you know when the details have been finalised.
