Happy Birthday, Canada!
CANADA DAY, July 1
From pancake breakfasts to free outdoor concerts, come along and help us celebrate Canada’s 142nd birthday. We’re still a young country and like the young, we enjoy birthday parties. Special features of this year’s celebration at Canada Place will take place on three outdoor stages with music by Elise Estrada, Delhi2Dublin, Rumba Calzada, Drum Cafe, Soulstream, Women in Country and more. Or enjoy music by DJ Leanne and an interactive dance program featuring stars of “So You Think You Can Dance Canada.”
As Vancouver will host the 2010 Winter Olympics next February, take the Road to 2010 Community Tour with the cute 2010 mascots.
There’ll be a Fly Pass and a celebration of Francophone arts and culture for the 100th anniversary of Maillardville as well as lots of fun for the kids, ending with a spectacular fireworks show at 10.30 over Burrard Inlet.
Other Birthday celebrations include:
A Canada Day Parade: from Georgia and Broughton north at Thurlow to Pender. 7 – 8 pm
Canada Day at Granville Island: featuring jazz performances courtesy of the Coastal Jazz and Blues Society
Canada Day festivities will also be held at Surrey, Langley, Richmond, White Rock and Capilano Suspension Bridge.
