Tower of the Americas

High above the San Antonio skyline, you can’t miss the Tower of the Americas. Designed by local San Antonio architect O’Neil Ford, Tower of the Americas was built as the theme structure for the 1968 World’s Fair, HemisFair ’68.

The 750-foot-tall tower has a cafe and 4-D theater on the ground level, as well as an observation deck, lounge and revolving restaurant at the top.

In 2004, Landry’s Restaurants began managing the property, which is owned by the City of San Antonio. Landry’s closed the tower for renovation and made improvements to the restaurant and banquet facilities, as well as added the multi-sensory theater. The tower re-opened in June 2006.

Tower of the Americas is located at 600 Hemisfair Plaza Way in downtown San Antonio and can be reached at (210) 223-3101. Self parking is available for $6.00 and special event parking is $11.00.

Tower of the Americas Ground Floor:

On the ground floor, you will find the Tower Café, which serves food, snacks and beverages, including Starbucks Coffee.

Also at the ground level is Skies Over Texas, a Texas-themed 4-D multi-sensory theater ride.

Tower of the Americas Hours:

Enjoy the theater ride, as well as the breathtaking views from the observation deck for one low price.

Fri-Sat: 10am-11pm

1 day pass for both Skies Over Texas (4D Multi-Sensory Theater ride) and Flags Over Texas (Observation Deck)

Tower of the Americas Restaurant and Lounge:

Chart House Restaurant offers delicious food in an upscale atmosphere. The revolving restaurant boasts beautiful 360-degree views of the city. The restaurant seats up to 250 people, while the lounge has space for 75.

Sun-Thurs: 11am-10pm
Fri-Sat: 11am-11pm

Chart House opened at the Tower of Americas in September 2007. The previous restaurant, Eyes Over Texas was open for about a year. You can make online reservations for Chart House Restaurant at toweroftheamericas.com.

Tower of the Americas Events:

All summer long you can enjoy the Party on the Tower Plaza Concert Series every Friday night from 7:00pm to midnight. Check out the concert calendar (pdf) to see which concerts are coming up. They also have car and motorcycle shows and a NASCAR Racewatch Show several weekends every month.
