Huck Finn Jubilee for Fathers and Others
Run Away from home this Father’s Day weekend for the ultimate fantasy of every good and bad boy’s dream–the chance to be Huck Finn (or Finn-ish, anyway). Victorville’s Mojave Narrows Regional Park is the site for this 33rd Annual Huck Finn Jubilee, an escape that includes three days packed with such Huck-ish activities as “Mark Twain Live,” line dancing and banjo-playing workshops, arm rastlin’ (we’re talkin’ the Californis State Arm Wrestling Championships!), frog jumpin’, a fish derby, a classic car show, and a Huck Finn look-a-like contest.
Musical entertainment on multiple stages features a stellar artists such as the Lonesome River Band, Wayne Taylor & Appaloosa, Calire Lynch Band, The Grascals, Kids on Bluegrass, and renowned Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. Sunday events range from chapel services and and old time gospel sing to clog dancing with the Bon Family Cloggers and Saddle Songs with Don Edwards. Crafts, vittles, games–all provided.
And any one with a Huck spirit will surely want to camp out in the park. No river, but there are some spots around Horseshoe Lake. Pack your imagination and come on down!
