Transportation Options in Barcelona: 5 Best Ways to Get Around
Barcelona has a great transportation system. Here are your best bets:
- METRO -
Barcelona’s metro system is really pretty good. Get yourself a T-10 (€7) metro card to save some money, instead of always buying single tickets. For long stays in town get the 50/30 card (€30). These cards work on all public transport in the city, not just the metro. For the most part, the metro is safe and easy.
- BUS
It takes some skill to understand the bus routes that cross the city, but if you get it down it’s an easy way to go. The bus takes longer but will usually drop you off right in front of your destination unlike the metro. Good for going to the beach and Park Guell. (€1.30 single ride).
- BIKE
Rent a bike for the day or for a few hours and see the city. There are many rental shops around town. (€10 – €25 depending).
- BIKE TAXI
These guys will pedal you around town. The price changes depending on the season, but last I heard it was about €10 for a 1/2 hour. This is a fun way to get from up-town to the port – plus most of the bike taxi drivers are interesting characters.
- LIGHT RAIL
Also part of the public transport system the light rail goes from around Park Ciutadella to Diagonal Street. It is quick, clean and easy and you can use the same card you bought for the metro.
