My Favorite Denver Bar: My Brother’s Bar

Almost a year ago, my husband and I stumbled across a place that has now become our favorite hangout. We were walking around downtown Denver looking for this place to play pool, which we found out closed 4 years ago. (They should really take down their website!).

Anyway, as we were walking along 15th street, there was this guy standing outside this building and he said “My Brother’s Bar”. We looked at him and said “Are you talking to us?” He said, “Come on in to My Brother’s Bar” and we said “Okay!”.  Ever since that day the slightly intoxicated man told us to come inside, we have been sold.

My Brother’s Bar is the oldest bar in Denver and it’s one of those places that a lot of people don’t seem to know about, or at least the people we have talked to. It’s right behind the huge REI (which everyone knows about) at 2376 15th St. [map] If we wouldn’t have been invited in, we would have walked right past it.

This place has been talked about in the newspaper, it’s been featured in magazines and there’s a reason why. It’s a fantastic family bar! Our kids love going there and they even give out balloons. A bar that gives out balloons? Yep, you can’t beat it!

They have great food, for very reasonable prices, and of course they have a great choice of beer, wine and anything else you could want. My husband goes for the Guiness stout and I have a vodka tonic (or two). I usually order the burger and they have kids meals, which have received great reviews from the kiddos.

The place is quite dark, but very comfortable to have a drink and dinner. It’s as old as you can imagine, but extremely clean – even the bathrooms are well kept. It’s a place that makes you want to pull up a chair, chat with your friends and stay for awhile. They even have a patio area for those nice months in Denver.

If you haven’t been to My Brother’s Bar, it’s a must visit place. Wow, I am really craving one of their burgers now. Looks like I’ll be making a trip downtown very, very soon.

Here’s an interior shot of the place.

    Hi Kyle,

Those actually aren’t my pictures. I got them from flickr, but next time I go, I am taking the camera. I want to get some outside shots of the place and some more of the bar. It’s the original bar! Very cool.
