Shopwindow Surprise

If you think that shopwindows display goods to tempt passers-by to buy things, you are in for a surprise.

De Bijenkorfs shopwindows are different. The mannequins look elegant and glamorous like artists. I am sure you won’t believe your eyes, because they come to life and begin to dance. Watch other passers-by stop and nudge each other.

These mannequins are professional dancers and artists who perform during the Holland Festival from 25 May to 25 June 2009. During this period music, opera, theatre and dance performances are staged in various theatres all over Amsterdam. The festival showcases over thirty productions and is a mix of established and new talents.

Mini shopwindow performances at de Bijenkorf Department Store attract people’s attention and aim at making the performances known to a wider public. From Tuesday 9 June to Saturday 20 June there are twenty-minute performances at 2.00 pm.
