Travellers gloss over the southern part of Archipelago- the island of Mindanao. As a Mabuhay Guide, this is one of my dream destinations and I am itching for a chance to explore it. For now, I will have to contend with blogging about it from afar.

People tend to dismiss Mindanao because of its Muslim population. Some people (even Filipinos) have that misguided notion that all Muslims are terrorists. However, it only takes one good conversation with a Muslim to change that. So why not try? Besides if you don’t give this island a shot, you’re going to miss out on one of the most culturally and ecologically rich areas of the country. This is also where you’ll find the most intricately done crafts from fabrics to woodwork. The indigenous heritage of Mindanao is also better preserved since they were able to fend off the Spanish colonizers.

But, why take my word for it? Find out what’s actually in Mindanao at the, “Wow Philippines Pasundayag Northern Mindanao 2009”. This is an all-out showcase of what the South has to offer. For twenty days, exhibits on local arts and culture, cuisine, agri-products, as well as tour and adventure opportunities will be available for you to see. No need to fly out!

Actitivies include cultural performances, street dancing (4pm), craft demonstrations, dance clinic , ethnic sports display, tutorial on playing of ethnic instruments, film showing, interactive showcases on adventure, arts culture, tourism wellness, selling of agricultural products, processed foods and handicrafts, travel & services consultation and many others.

Pasundayag will run until June 24, 2009.
3pm  -10pm every Monday;
10am -10pm Tuesday-Thursday;
