Visit the Great Outdoors on Vancouver’s North Shore

Just across the inlet from Vancouver city, where the mountains come down to the shore, there lies a world of nature and adventure where you can explore the forests and climb to the hieghts of the mountains.  You can get to the North Shore by driving across the Lion’s Gate Bridge from downtown Vancouver via Georgia Street, or the Second Narrows  from the Trans Canada Hwy 1 heading north.  Or simply get aboard public transit either by bus by the Bay Co. downtown or seabus from the Waterfront station

Explore the Londsale Quay market or catch a bus to the busy Park Royal or the Capilano Shopping Malls.  At Edgemont Village you’ll find wonderful speciality shops and various dining choices. Ambleside Beach has shops, galleries and restaurants near the seaside.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge spans 230 feet above the Capilano River where you can have a treetop adventure in the towering evergreens.  Or hike the trails and suspension bridge at Lynn Canyon Park.

There is easy access to the popular skiing/snowboarding/shoe-shoeing and tobogganing hills of Cypress Bowl,  and Seymour Mountains, or venture up to The Peak on the Grouse Mountain Skyride for spectacular views of the city.  there are the serene seaside villages of Deep Cove on the Indian Arm where you can canoe, kayak or stroll and Horseshoe Bay where you can sample seafood restaurants and unique boutiques.  You catch the ferry to Nanaimo and Bowen Island from here too.

Vancouver’s lush North Shore is an easy outdoors getaway from the city’s downtown. I’ve lived in North Van and really enjoyed everything from the Seabus rides to Grouse Mountain. Thanks!
