Island Hotel Has Completed Renovation
Located in luxe Newport Beach, the 20-story landmark Island Hotel has completed a two-year renovation of its 295 guestrooms and public areas that include the Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge.
The new look incorporates a light-filled lobby filled with contemporary art, furnishings, and custom Italian light fixtures that complement exterior spaces that are lushly landscaped with swaying palms and birds of paradise.
Hotel highlights:
- Suites and guestrooms with ocean or garden views, specially commissioned art works by California artists, wonderful Stearns & Foster beds with 300-thread-count linens, wireless Interent access, and 42-inch plasma-screen HDTVs with all the bells and whistles.
- The nature-inspired, urban oasis, Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge offering a tropical theme, indoor and outdoor dining, a bar menu, and live entertainment. The dinner menu features small plates such as Sea Scallops “Seared with Fingerling Potatoes, Crème Fraiche and Crispy Prosiutto” and Tortilla Soup “with Dungeness Crab, Lime and Cilantro.” Among the large plates are Maine Lobster “Butter Poaches with Ricotta Gnocchi, Sugar Snap Peas, Lemongrass and Ginger and Prime Beef Short Ribs “Braised with Rum & Pepper for 30 Hours with Potatoes and Irvine Ranch Vegetables.”
- The restaurant’s timely “comfort classics” menu with assorted small plates (corn chowder, casear salad, classic wedge salad, and smoked salmon) and large plates (home made pasta pomodoro, Scottish salmon, seafood stew, roasted organic chicken, filet of beef, and veal osso bucco.
- Nine treatment rooms at the 4,000-square-foot Spa at Island Hotel where guests can sign up for massages, facials, hand and foot treatments, and signature rituals such as the island volcanic detoxifying therapy and island tropical splendour.
- Active or relaxing past times: a heated pool, spa tub, fitness center (personal trainers available), tennis courts, and golf at nearby Pelican Hill or Oak Creek golf clubs.
