Changes to trains St. Petersburg-Helsinki

This information is important for those who want to travel between St. Petersburg and Finland this summer.

First of all, little shuttle buses have raised their prices to about 30 euros for one way ticket. The place of departure has not changed, you can take a bus at the Vosstanya Square, near the Oktyabrskaya hotel daily at about 21.00.

The timetable of train connection has changed, be careful. As of June 2 till August 25 daily local trains (leaving from St. Petersburg) Repin and Sibelius are not available on Tuesdays because of repair works. On Tuesday, you can take only a transit train Moscow-Helsinki (its name is Lev Tolstoy), which arrives at St. Petersburg’s Ladozhsky rail station at 06.02 a.m. and leaves at 06.07.

Repin and Sibelius are available on all others days of week. Repin leaves Finlyandsky station at 07.17 and arrives at 12.35 (Finland time, -1 hour from Moscow). Sibelius leaves at 16.34 and arrives at 21.58.

From Helsinki Repin goes at 15.23 and arrives at St. Petersburg at 22.51, Sibelius leaves at 07.23 and arrives at 14.15. Local time everywhere!

The Finnish Railways note that in the summer time trains may be delayed because of all these repair works.

There are two air companies serving the St. Petersburg-Helsinki line. Finnair flies 11 times a week, with the flight scheduled for 12.35 made daily and the flight scheduled for 16.25 made on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Air company “Russia” has seven flights at 18.50 daily. Travel time is about an hour.

More details on flights you can pick find at the site of Pulkovo airport.
