Lift a Liberal Beer
Drinking Liberally is a national movement that invites liberals, progressives and others to meet to discuss politics, religion and other traditionally forbidden topics.
Founder Justin Krebs offers up a Liberal blog and an annual conference along with invitations to create other liberal-leaning groups. The organization has over 300 groups across the nation and the Las Vegas area boasts three: one in Boulder City, one in Henderson, and one in the Northwest side of town. There is no cost to attend and no fee to join, although the groups traditionally meet where they can order a beer or a glass of wine. Discussions are often lively and passionate, but, like the Socrates Cafe, geared toward intelligent argument rather than unsupported opinions. With Obama’s recent visit to Vegas, a new Supreme Court Nominee, Cheney vs. Powell vs. Limbaugh debate and health care reform finally on the table, there is lots to talk about. Hope to see you at one of the events. Look for the Drinking Liberally logo on a sign at a table to find the group.
