Things to do on a Rainy Weekend
I just checked the forecast for this weekend and it looks like a bit of sun, rain, clouds, rain and some more rain. Boo! So what is there to do on this icky weekend? Plenty! Pack an umbrella because here we go!
Start off your morning at Marienplatz, no matter what the weather, Marienplatz is always beautiful. Have a lovely brunch at the . Simply go inside, head upstairs and have a seat near the window. A waitress will come around to take your order. Have a coffee and choose something delicious from the menu.
Head back outside and hop on the S-Bahn to Isartor, which will take you right to the , where you can spend all day learning about science, communications, energy and transportation. The is famous for its exhibits. Or, if you feel more like art and culture, you can take the U6 or U3 to Odeonsplatz and spend your day at the , which is walking distance from Odeonsplatz. The is one of my absolute favorite Museums in the whole city. Or, you can always head to the which is your traditional classical art museum and right in the heart of Maxvorstadt.
If museums aren’t your thing, then you might be more of a movie on a rainy day kind of person. Head over to the and take your pick of English language films. You can easily find your way to the off of the Stieglmaierplatz stop on the U1.
Whether you follow the tips above, or aren’t interested in them, you’ll be feeling peckish at one point during the day. So whether you’re just getting out of the movie or want to read a book somewhere cosy, I highly suggest heading over to in Maxvorstadt which is one of my favorite tea time, cake time, anytime spots. You can get there easily from the Universität stop on the U3/U6. Curl up with a good book, or reflect on your rainy day while you indulge in one of their mindblowingly delicious desserts. Try the Mississippi Mud Pie, it’s heart-stopping. Or take the chocolate and beet cake on a spin. Matched with one of their wonderful teas or coffees would but a perfect note on the end of such a sweet day.
