Serbia Action Tourism
As we approach summer, it is the right time to connect with ourselves and replenish the energy. The best way to do that is to visit some of the more beautiful sights in the Serbian countryside. The choice of things that you can do is amazing. You can go hiking, horseback riding, free climbing, skiing, fishing, sailing, rafting, parachuting, cycling, mountain biking, research some of numerous natural resorts or archaeological sights and caves… The question is what are you interested in and where to go. So let me start with hiking.
Hiking and Mountaineering
Serbia can offer you many challenges for climbing and hiking especially in terms of diversity of terrain and Mountains. Here I will mention three important and popular mountains that you could visit on you travel:
Divcibare
40 km from Valjevo, Southwest Serbia, rich in water and forests, with relatively easy hiking tours. The mountain is great for those who want to increase the level of their red blood cells and for those who want relaxed, yet interesting climbing. There are several routes and although the mountain does not have challenging paths the total length is more than 30 km long and can be very demanding for those who are not yet in shape. If you are interested in visiting Divcibare please visit Tourist organization of Valjevo www.valjevo-turist.co.yu
Fruska Gora
Fruska Gora is the largest mountain in northern Serbian province of Vojvodina. The word “Fruska” means “fresh”, which is actually great description for the mountain with dense forests. This mountain in next to second largest city in Serbia Novi Sad and is especially popular as picnic place among Belgrade population. Walks and hiking are mild and this is mountain for really everybody. One additional reason to visit Fruska Gora are 17 monasteries from different times – ranging from 15th to 18the century.
If you are interested in visiting Fruska Gora please contact Novi Sad Tourist Info Center at +381 21 421 811. For more info on the place, visit Fruskagora.rs.
Tara
Tara is one of the nicest places for hiking in Serbia as it has 18 hiking trails. The mountain is located between Drina river and mountain Zlatibor. Most of trails are relatively easy however Brusnica Canyon tour is pretty difficult and I would not advise you to choose this particular trail without experienced guide. Nenad, This is an interesting article, especially Fruska Gora. It sounds a very good destination when in Novi Sad. I haven’t been to Serbia yet, but would love to go.
