I usually do not write about Serbian second largest city Novi Sad but this time I have to make an exception. From sixth to 14th of June the city of Novi Sad will host international movie contest – all organized by the same people who organize Exit festival.
The festival will be held on 20 locations around the city and will include numerous domestic and international artists. The center of the festival will be Serbian National Theater, and the movies will be presented in eight cinemas out of which five are open-air. There are total of 150 movies organized in 15 categories and various selections such as the selection of French new wave movies or selection of modern Turkish movie, selection of movies created with the budget lower than 10000 dollars.

The major sponsor of the event is the city and the state authorities and this is great since you will be able to see many independent and non-commercial movies.

One of the Cinema City festival parts that is of peculiar interest is Wealth of Nations. This event is comprised from the exhibition and the conference – the major topic is of course Adam Smith and his liberal economic thoughts from today’s crisis perspective.  This part of the program is organized in cooperation with the museum of contemporary art of Vojvodina.
