Centro Cultural de Belém – Cultural Centre
Built for the 1992 Presidency of the European Union, it was then made the biggest cultural centre in Portugal, dedicated to the promotion of arts but functioning as well as a conference centre. It hosts a Performing Arts Centre, an Exhibition Centre, a Meeting and Conference Centre, the Museum Colecção Berardo de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea, among others, in a construction area of 97.000 square meters.
It’s situated in Belém, just by Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, overlooking Tagus river, marking the Portuguese Maritime Discoveries leaving point, back in the 15th century.
Besides the museums and exhibitions, you can also find exhibition galleries, auditoriums, shops, a library, restaurants and a café, gardens and many other things to assure a pleasant cultural day.
