Yucca Valley, Grubstake Days, Community Spirit

It’s definitely the time for some small town, old-fashioned fun. Bless you, Yucca Valley, for sending some our way.

Approximately 100 miles east of downtown, this desert community is preparing to host its 59th annual Grubstake Days parade on Saturday, May 23rd. The parade, which gets bigger and better with each year, is a fun and feel-good event with local residents and business owners participating on all levels. Friends and neighbors gather to watch the march down Highway 62.

Following the big parade is the Grubstake Days Community Fair featuring food venders, game booths, entertainment, a softball tournament, and a challenge between the local fire service and the fuzz.

More active types may want to spend the night and stick around for the next day’s Grubstake 2K, 5K, and 10K run.

Come back for the old-fashioned Fourth of July fireworks celebration and September’s Morongo Basin Old Car Club’s 145h Annual Charity Car Show (complete with fireman’s pancake breakfast and raffle prizes!).
