Cruises to St. Petesrburg: a taxi is already waiting for you

This news will be useful for those coming to St. Petersburg on board of cruise ships. Every summer the city’s harbour serves more than 300 of calls. The ships usually stand in the merchant port and along embankment of the Neva river, just in the city center. Since this year’s navigation there is something new: a newly built passenger terminal designed specially for the cruise tourists has begun its operation. At the time, no data available how many ships will be served there, but what I know exactly is that there is a taxi service at the terminal, a special desk to help you book a lift where you need to. So, if you a cruise tourist going to visit St. Petersburg this summer ask your travel agent what is your port of call.

What is good about this taxi service, it costs as much as it must, not these inflated prices which are offered to foreign tourists by many companies. You should be aware of the fact that unlike many cities across the globe St. Petersburg has no its municipal taxi with drivers licenced, checked and listed, this market is entirely private and passengers are served by companies that have their own price policy. And tariffs are not stable, the price even can depend on a level of a driver’s greediness.

A trip to the center costs 500-700m rubles, to any of railway stations — 600-800. All payments are accepted by personnel at the desk, not by a driver, which is very important. The payments may be made with the help of credit cards. The personnel speaks two foreign languages as a minimum.

Have a nice trip.
