Two Reasons To Stay A Little Longer at Animal Kingdom Theme Park

As if adventures with birds and beasts weren’t enough, Animal Kingdom now offers Picnic in the Park and Adventurers Celebration Gathering giving guests two special reasons to linger a little longer at the park.

As guests enter Animal Kingdom they can now make arrangements for a “Picnic in the Park” and with plenty of shady spots for outdoor dining, this is truly a unique change from restaurant dining.  A special podium in front of guest relations at the entrance to the theme park, is open from 8:30 am-1:00 pm to take orders for the family meal-to-go.

Picnic meal options are either sandwiches or rotisserie chicken or ham.  All meals include sides, desserts and bottled water for each guest.  Sandwich picnics begin at $24.99 for a meal for three; Rotisserie picnics begin at $29.99 for three. Packaged with plates and utensils in an “Every Tree Has Character” reusable bag, the Picnic can be taken to a number of spots throughout the park which are marked on a small map that is included in the bag.

If you are already inside the park or it is after 1:00pm when the urge for a picnic strikes, go directly to the podium at Tusker House Restaurant where orders will be taken.

While not a fast, Fast-food item, picnics are ready within two hours of ordering and are picked up at Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. Be sure to bring a copy of the order form as confirmation and head straight to the “pick-up” window.

As a family we have eaten at a number of amazing restaurants at Walt Disney world and have had some very memorable picnics at other destinations.  The thought of combining the two experiences – good food in an awesome setting and a relaxed atmosphere- sounds magical.

On the Disney Dining Plan? No problem – the picnic is considered a “quick-service meal” (one adult quick-service ticket is needed per meal in other words, a picnic for three would require three adult quick-service tickets).

After a full day in the jungle, cast members, along with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy , dressed in khaki, gather to bid farewell to guests.  Adventurers Celebration Gathering is a music filled, interactive experience held near the theme park entrance each evening during park closing.

Guests are invited to join in all the street-party fun from dancing with the music to forming a conga line procession.  All the while Mickey and pals keep the beat from the top of their safari vehicle.

From a Picnic in the park to a little quality time with Disney Characters, this is an exciting way to spend the day at Animal Kingdom.
