REVIEW: Santini – Best Ice-Cream in Lisbon

Ask anyone in Lisbon about the best local ice cream, chances are they will tell you to catch the train to Cascais and direct you to Santini.

Opened for three generations, almost 60 years ago, Santini sells traditional Italian ice-cream that has been served to the national and international royalty. It is said that one of its secrets is the quality and the freshness of the ingredients, 100% natural. As well as the art to combine them.

The fact is that it’s an excellent ice-cream that makes people come from Lisbon on hot summer week-ends. Strawberry is one of the top choices, like chocolate, cream or vanilla. But you have many other varieties that will certainly meat your desires.

Quite near the train station in Cascais, if you go down Av. de Valbom, you won’t miss the store on your left side. It’s quite small and simple. Most probably you’ll see people queuing outside. Just be patient. It won’t take too long for you to have il gelati piu fini del mondo on your hand. And you find the waiting was very worth it.

They have just opened a second shop in S.João do Estoril, near train station, as well.
