The Matakana Experience
Just 40 minutes north of downtown Auckland is the Matakana area of Rodney district and if you are looking for an excuse to explore this beautiful part of the world, what better way than to combine a daytrip with a gastronomic night out at either Matakana House for the Speights Birthday Party on the 30th May or one of the Ascension Winery’s Gourmet dinners. You can choose either the Italian Dinner on 23rd May or the Grunty Reds night on the 16th May.
For those of New Zealand, Speights is the iconic beer of the South much favoured by the hard Southern men. Not for these guys the light and frothy lagers of other breweries, so why not see for yourself at the Matakana.
For those who prefer a glass of red or two or even a grunty Chardonnay, join hosts Darryl and Bridget Soljan at their famous ‘long table’ for a memorable evening of fine dining accompanied by carefully selected wines with each course.
