Las Olas Wine & Food Festival on May 1st & 2nd

It’s always great to be surrounded by great food and wine and the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival is no exception. This year instead of taking place during the week, the festival has moved to the weekend – May 1st & 2nd – and has expanded to include a series of wine dinners, in addition to the annual street festival. Here is what to expect:

  • On Friday, May 1st at 7:00 pm, select wine dinners will take place. These dinners will occur at area restaurants and at 1 private residence. These locations include: Tuscan Grille, Johnny V and Grill Room on Las Olas. Visit here for more information.
  • On Saturday, May 2nd the street festival will take place. The day will begin with culinary demonstrations from local chefs. Here’s the schedule:

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Eleanor Hoh from Wok Star

4:00 pm – 5:00 pm Chef Hugh Sinclair, Caribbean Cuisine, Personal Chef, Iriespice, Inc.

5:00 pm – 6:00 pm Joy Sterling, Iron Horse Vineyards

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm Milo Rodriguez, Bombay Sapphire Mixologist

7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Chef Alex M Gulal, Grill Room on Las Olas

8:00 pm – 9:00 pm Chef Jean Pierre, Chef Jean Pierre Cooking School

9:00 pm – 10:00 pm Chef Paula DaSilva, 3030 Ocean & current constestant on Hell’s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsey

  • 6:00 – 7:30 pm, the VIP reception will take place sponsored by Bonterra Vineyards. Cost for the VIP tent is $225 and includes access to the VIP tent, a Eisch glass to take home, a VIP bag amd a ticket to the street festival.
  • The street festival begins at 7:30 pm and lasts until 10:00 pm and includes wine, spirits, beer and food samplings from over 60 participating restaurants. Some of my favorite participating restaurants include: Cero at the Ritz-Carlton, da Campo Osteria, Himmarshee Bar & Grill, Valentino’s, Oceanaire and Lola’s on Harrison.

Proceeds from the event go to the American Lung Association.

If you can’t make it to this event, there are always great wine events going on. Check out:
