The Mai-Kai: The Ultimate Polynesian Dining and Entertaining Experience

When a restaurant/entertainment establishment has been around for 52 years, you know that they are doing something right. The Mai-Kai in Fort Lauderdale recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary and with that, they’ve created many changes updating the menu, the decor and most importantly — their wine list.

What is the Mai-Kai?

This is a dining/happy hour/entertainment destination. The Mai-Kai recreates a Polynesian village complete with tiki torches, an indoor or outdoor dining experience and dinner/entertainment dining experience

What is offered?

The Mai-Kai is open from Tuesday – Sunday starting at 5:00 pm on. The show occurs Tuesday – Thursday at 8:00 pm and on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm and at 10:00 pm. On Sundays, the show happens at 7:00 pm. Reservations are required. Call (954) 563-3272 ext. 1 to make your reservations.

Dining?

While the Mai-Kai does offer a full menu, I’d say it is more known for the vibe or dinner entertainment than it is known for their menu offerings.  Showcharge $10.95 per person. The Molokai Bar features 51 specialty drinks and their happy hour runs from Tuesday – Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Along with half priced drinks, appetizers are also 50% off. Come in on a Wednesday and enjoy a complimentary buffet with the purchase of a drink. Menu items center around an Asian theme and include Chicken with Ginger Peanut Sauce, Hunan Lobster, Thai Red Curry Duck and more. Prices range from $16 – $45.

Changes

From the moment you walk in, changes await you: a rebuilt plank bridge, new palm leaf rooftops, refurbished tables, renovated waterfalls, new tiki torches and more. As mentioned earlier, their wine list has been recreated with the help of Jill Scott from Selected Brands.

Even better, they’ve paired up with OpenTable and now you can book your reservations online. Life just got easier.

Location

The Mai-Kai is located at: 3599 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. (954) 563-3272 ext 1.
