New at the National Museum of Scotland: Fantastic Flight

Whether you’re a seasoned flyer or just the occasional traveller, you should check out the latest exhibition: Fantastic Flight at the National Museum of Scotland.

It’s a great exhibit for both adults and children. Within the three hands-on (and by hands-on they mean “let’s get our hands dirty”) galleries, you’ll find everything including:

  • hear an explanation of how airplanes are able to fly
  • feel the force of gravity as a place gets lift
  • see the controls of the airplane – can you manage?
  • touch the blades of a real airplane

The best part is the Concorde Experience, where you can see Scotland’s Concorde up close and learn a bit more about this piece of aviation history.

The museum is set on a former airfield; to reach it from Edinburgh, take bus 121 from the bus station towards North Berwick. The journey takes less than 20 minutes.
