Flight delayed: AirAsia crews held hostage at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta

I was smiling when I read this blog post by Unspun, not because I approve of what happened, but because of the determination of the Indonesian AirAsia passengers to show their frustrations over AirAsia’s delayed flight.

Five AirAsia crew members were held hostage by angry Indonesian passengers at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airpoirt after their flight was delayed several times. The passengers could not take it anymore when they could not get definite answer when their flight will arrive. The drama lasted about two hours when the hostages were finally released after the airport management intervened and negotiated with the angry and disgruntled passengers.

In general, occasional flights delays are accepted by airline passengers worldwide but in the case of AirAsia, delays seems to be rather norms than exceptions. This should serve as a good lesson-learnt to Tony Fernandes and the gang at AirAsia and I hope they will finally do something before more crew members are held hostages.
