John Waters and his “Rear Projection”

Fans of once-off-the-wall and now-celebrated filmmaker John Waters should check out more of his creativity at the Beverly Hills branch of Gagosian Gallery.

Opening on April 11th and on display through May 23rd, “Rear Projection” displays sculpture and photographs by Waters, the cult hero from Baltimore.

The creator of such controversial films as “Pink Flamingos” and “Desperate Living,” as well as the wildly popular “Hairspray,” which made it to Broadway and many mainstream living rooms, has extended his reach through other artistic endeavors.

“Rear Projection” promises to startle, entertain, scare, or amuse viewers depending on their temperaments, religions, tolerance levels, and other factors that only a trained psychologist should tackle.

Creatively altered through various film tricks, images include: “Children Who
Smoke,” showing child stars indulging in bad habits. They aren’t really smoking. I don’t think they are, anyway. It’s John Waters, so who knows? Oh well, just go see it for yourself.
