Limietberg Nature Reserve
Scattered all over Cape Town are great family getaways such as the Limietberg Nature Reserve more commonly known to locals as Tweede Tol. It is situated in the town of Wellington that is nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
Tweede Tol camp site at Limietberg Nature Reserve is an amazing setting which is also an accredited World Heritage Site and has undergone a huge revamp over the past few years. Some of the improvements include new jungle gym for young nature lovers, paved roads, shaded camp sites and demarcated parking areas. A new specially designed picnic site that can accommodate 120 visitors a day but as it is a first come first served so plan ahead and leave early.
There are several enjoyable hikes with incredible views and clear rock pools that is easy reachable by campers and day visitors. The great thing is that you do not need to be super fit to enjoy these great views.
The best and quietest time to visit Limietberg Nature Reserve and in fact any Nature reserve is during the week or outside of school holidays. The town of Wellington also has some great attractions, little shops, museums and vineyards. It is easy to spend a few days in this lovely area.
