Visiting San Antonio Botanical Garden
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a popular destination for visitors and residents alike. Located on 33 acres, the Botanical Garden is a combination of beautiful indoor displays and outdoor gardens, which include the Old Fashioned Garden, Rose Garden, Sensory Garden (Garden for the blind), Kumamoto En garden, Sacred Garden, Shade Garden, Gertie’s Garden and other garden displays. The Botanical Garden was founded in 1980 and is operated by the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.

Botanical Garden Location
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is located at 555 Funston @ North New Braunfels Avenue. The Garden can be reached at (210) 207-3250. Get directions from the airport and downtown.
Botanical Garden Hours and Admission
Open daily from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day only.
- $7.00 – Adults
- $4.00 – Children (Age 3–13)
- $5.00 – Senior Citizens (Ages 65 and over)
- $5.00 – Military & Students (with ID)
- Group rates are available. The gardens are wheelchair accessible.
Botanical Garden Highlights
- Lucile Halsell Conservatory
The conservatory houses plants from the desert to the rainforest in three buildings. The buildings surround a sunken courtyard and beautiful lagoon. You will see everything from a 65-foot tall forest of palms to a flowers, cacti and other plants.
- Texas Native Trail
This trail is made up of plant communities representative of the Hill Country (Edwards Plateau), East Texas Piney Woods, and South Texas, showing the ecological diversity of Texas.
- Garden Gate Gift Shop
The gift shop is located at the entrance to the Botanical Garden in the Sullivan Carriage House. You can purchase botanical books, toys, gifts and other items between 9:00am-5:00pm daily.
- Carriage House Bistro
The Carriage House kitchen, located on the grounds, offers sandwiches, salads, quiches, soup and desserts. Guests are also allowed to picnic in the gardens. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

Botanical Garden Education
Horticulture, botany and natural history workshops for adults are held throughout the year at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Children’s programs at the Garden include summer camps, preschool programs, family days, nature camps and other gardening programs for kids. The Botanical Garden can be rented for private parties and weddings. Private parties and events for thousands of people can be held at the Botanical Garden. The exquisite gardens make a beautiful backdrop for your wedding ceremony or reception. In the springtime, the Garden is host to several weddings per week. Rates and rental information.
