Oysters Jubilee and the Inaugural Louisiana RoadFood Festival

It’s festival season in New Orleans again, and a full plate of events have been scheduled to take place. Last week were the Italian and Irish festivals, as well as the uptown event for the French school on General Pershing, and this weekend promises even more fun and food.

This Saturday, April 4, I expect to see all of you at the third annual Oysters Jubilee at 311 Bourbon Street between 10 and 2 PM, hovering over what will be the longest oyster po-boy you will ever see, with 340 feet of Leidenheimer bread wrapped around 5,200 fried oysters. Each hunk will reflect each participating restaurant’s special way with the in-season mollusks, and with P&J a name being thrown around, you will not want to miss this.
That same day, you’re definitely going to want to follow this second line parade since it’s going to lead you down to the Louisiana RoadFood Festival, celebrating its first year. Partnering together for a day of New Orleans favorites, the party continues on Royal Street from 11 AM to 7 PM, April 4-5, so make this an outing for lunch and dinner. This festival, however, continues all weekend.

As usual, admission is free to both events, but you’re welcome and encouraged to spend your tourist dollars and help boost our city’s economy with food, beverage, and souvenir purchases.
