Where Is Spring?

Today when cleaning out the attic, I found my ice skates, slightly moth-eaten but the blades in perfect condition. I bought them in 1963!!!, the coldest winter of the 20th century (or so everyone says). It started snowing on Christmas Day and in March there were still remnants of the icy snow. It was the year that the North Sea was frozen as far as the horizon. The year that cars drove across frozen lakes and people enjoyed icy picnics on the ice.

This year spring is late. Was last year the same? I can’t remember. I always find it strange that we remember only extreme weather condition.

Golden Daffodils

Golden Daffodils

I was glad to see that in the parks and in my garden the hyacinths and daffodils are in bloom, not yet the tulips, still too cold. The Keukenhof, the Flower Garden in Lisse opened last week. I haven’t been there for ages, but this year I will go, in April. Hope the weather is sunny and the tulips in bloom. I will let you know when I have been.
