Late Night Dim Sum at Asian Legend

This past Saturday night along with a group of friends (total of 4) we went out to catch a movie (the new Julia Roberts one, called Duplicity- brutal in this critic’s opinion).  We went to a theater at Yonge and Sheppard and were out around 9pm.  Where to eat on a Saturday night when when we don’t want to get stuffed and don’t want to go broke either?

Friends had told us about a place called Asian Legend. I am a huge fan of all varieties of Asian Food so of course I was game.  I am especially fond of Dim Sum and was pretty psyched when I heard that Dim Sum was an Asian Legend specialty.

The restaurant itself is very modern looking, it is not overly large and I can imagine it would be a pain to wait for a table on busy nights.  In that we were after the normal Saturday night rush there was no wait.  I was instantly taken by the fact that the restaurant was almost entirely full of Asian customers.  To me this is always a great sign!

With blackberry in hand I was able to scan some reviews and read what was supposed to be good and we ordered.

We ordered about 5-6 Dim Sum dishes, soup filled crab dumplings, some chicken dumplings, an eggplant dish, a green bean dish and the house special crispy pancake.  The food came promptly, each dish was nicely presented, nothing fancy, but not a sloppy job either.  The portions were beyond generous.  The dumplings were all very large.  The food was very good and everything was served fresh and hot.

Given the hour we passed on dessert, however the fried bananas and the usual Dim Sum glutinous balls looked fantastic.

The bill arrived, all in, tax and tip was $74.00.  Considering how much we ate and that we all had drinks $18.50 per person was a pretty good deal.  As you can see, Asian Legend has locations all over the city. I can’t speak for the others, however if this is the baseline, you will be in good hands at any location.

Asian Legend has the following locations:

Asian Legend Scarborough
Asian Legend Finch & Leslie
Asian Legend North York
Asian Legend Metro Square
Asian Legend Commerce Gate
Asian Legend Dowtown
