Multi-Culti Month Continues!

Just when you thought it was all over, New Orleans and our parades come back up into the consciousness. Although St. Joseph’s Day was March 18 this year, tomorrow, Sunday, March 22 is the day we’re actually celebrating this day of Italian heritage and tradition. At noon on Veterans Boulevard in Metairie, right outside of the city, big floats will be rolling yet again down the wide streets of the suburbs, bedecked in the colors of Ireland and Italy. Beginning at the Clearview Shopping Center mall (look for the big Target) and ending at Martin Behrman, the route is the usual, aside from the fact that it doesn’t go down Bonnabel this year.

Throws to look out for? Well, beware of flying greens and root vegetables, since cabbages will be shamelessly flung out to the crowds of people that line the neutral ground each and every year. Garters and fake flowers are other common prizes, and far less dangerous than the free dinner ingredients.
